I failed a lot today.
And then I wrote it all up in a blog entry for this thing. Which took about 40mins because this keyboard is tiny and I keep making mistakes. And then I lost everything that I wrote before it was posted.
Because I fail today.
I'm not going to write it all out in detail again but basically it went like this:
Took forever to get to the train station - I completely underestimated the distance.
Went to Umeda -
Went to Umeda Arts Theatre to see if there were any tickets available for the play I wanted to see and didn't get around to organising a ticket for in advance. No tickets were available and today is the last day it was showing. :( Not the end of the world, but still sad.
Tried to find the Umeda Sky Building. Eventually found it in the sky line, about four blocks away but there were train tracks in my path. I know from looking it up on the internet that there is an underpass but after an hour of looking I couldn't find it and my feet were hurting from walking so much on unforgiving concrete.
There are no places to rest/sit in Umeda. None. Not a park bench in site. Not even a bus stop.
Went into a shopping centre, bought a tiny little something but messed up with the coins and the cashier got frustrated with my ignorance and reached over to point at the right coin in my purse. I had a very red face by the time I left.
Got lost.
Found a bunch of resturants but was so overwhelmed by the choice and still lacking confidence after the last cashier debacle that I just kept walking until I was past them all. Except I was hungry and somehow ended up in Starbucks :S The girl working in Starbucks knew a little english and was very nice to me but the hot chocolate and the sugar doughnut that I ended up with made me just REALLY want a drink of water. I ended up feeling really sorry for myself. You know you're having a crappy day when you find refuge in a Starbucks (I never thought I'd see the day that I bought something from such a big American chain store :/ ). I just wanted to pull off my shoes and take a nap.
So I went back to the train station and tried to figure out which of the Osaka Loop Trains to catch. One would get me to my station in five stops, the other would take about tweleve stops. I took a gamble and ended up with the long trip. And to add to it all, the train spent twenty minutes at Tennoji station before going the last four stops to my station. All so very frustrating.
No matter how cold it is tomorrow, I'm wearing my cold, thin, crappy, comfortable shoes (and maybe a second pair of socks.)
Now, I'm going to quickly make some dinner and have an early night.
Oyasumi Nasi Minna.

Mum Hi Amy, I'm sure your holiday will get better.... doesn't sound like it could get much worse in your eyes. You write a great story though. I couldn't help but laugh when I read it, even though I'm sure I wasn't s'posd to. :) I hope you have a better day today. Talk to you soon. Love ya Mum xxx
Amy Hi Mum, It's not so bad; I saw the funny side of it too by the end of the day. Though after I wrote the entry I decided to have a look at something I got for you as a souvenir. Turns out that I got the wrong one, I now possess a tiny little cotton kimono that would barely fit a five year old. *laughs* Oh well - I can only learn from my idiocy. Maybe I'll cut it up and turn it into a bag when I get home. Love ya~
