Hi All,
Since we've been in Australia for almost a month now, we think its about time we got around to telling you about some of it!
We flew into Sydney from Singapore on 2nd July, straight into winter, and boy did the cold weather hit us. After wandering off the plane in flip flops, I think Amy set a new world record changing into warmer clothes!
We stayed in a hostel called Maze in Sydney, which was a dump, but in a great location so we'll forgive it and just wont go back. We we're in Sydney for 5 days, so we got to see & do quite alot (we've still saved some things for when we go back at Christmas though, namely the beaches as there's no way we would go there to shiver all day!). We saw Darling Harbour, the Rocks with the cute little markets, and Circular Quay where the Harbour Bridge and Opera House are. We also went to the Sydney Aquarium where we saw some strange fish and turtles and sharks, and to the Wildlife Centre next door where they had Kangaroos, Koalas, spiders & snakes (eugh!) and our new favourite animal... the wombat, soo cute! And we went up the Sydney tower, which had amazing 360 degree views across the city. One of the days we went down to Wooloomooloo and ate the most amazing pie at the famous cafe 'Harry's Cafe de Wheels' where they pile mash, peas and gravy ontop of your pie to give a huge tower of food.
When we left Sydney for Melbourne we got an ovenight Greyhound bus... big mistake! So uncomfortable and no heating so we almost froze! Now we are in Melbourne, where we'll hopefully be for the next 5 months.
Lots of love Amy and Clare X x x
