Hi all!As you are probably aware both myself and Becky are now both back on home ground (well actually, Becky is now Greece!) and here is the final blog entry of our trip - last stop…. New York!I have to say that I wasn't looking forward to the journey from Fiji to New York which involved a 10 hour flight to LA followed by a 3 hour wait in the airport and then another 6 hour flight to JFK! However, both flights were pretty good and we arrived (with an 18 hour time difference!) in good spirits at JFK airport in good spirits in the early hours of the morning. My bag came off the carousel and we waited for Becky's, and waited, and waited! We began to get a bit worried when we were the only ones still waiting and no sign of the bag! Fortunately after a it of a run around the bag was traced in a secret room- it had been put on an earlier flight! We then jumped in a yellow cab and made our way straight to our hostel on 45th street (just off times square) and went straight to bed!The first two nights neither of us could sleep, it was the worst jetlag either of us had encountered, despite this we made the most of every day, we had lots of sightseeing to do!During our first day we walked to central park and then caught the subway all the way to the other end of the city and visited the world trade centre site. We also went to century 21 which is a factory outlet shop and did a bit of shopping! We then walked all the way back, stopping at Maceys en route. We had a big shopping day planned for the next day so we got an early night ready for an early start! We caught the bus to Woodbury Common outlet mall and spent all day there! We both had lots of bargains and were very pleased with our purchases! The next day we decided to be proper tourists and bought a two day bus sight seeing pass. We got to see 'uptown', 'downtown', Brooklyn and the statue of liberty on a cruise down the Hudson river. We also saw the empire state building, Chinatown, Wall Street and all the tourist sites. We also got to do a night tour on our last evening - it was lovely to see the city lit up, especially the Brooklyn bridge. We had also booked tickets to see Mamma Mia on Broadway at the winter garden theatre. We both thoroughly enjoyed the show and went for a meal at Planet Hollywood before hand - we splashed out!On our last day in New York we walked to central park again and sat in the gardens before heading back to times square to kill some time before we had to leave for the airport… only to find Usher was realeasing his album and making an appearance outside the mtv studios! Becky managed to get right to the frount of one of the barriers and got some very close up photos (hes very small in real life), so any way that passed some time for us! We then began the journey home….We had a safe flight, both bags came off the conveyor belt and we were reunited with our parents at the arrivals lounge (well I had to wait a bit for mine as they were stuck in traffic!) - we were both ecstatic to see our much missed mums and dads!I can't believe how quickly our trip went and we can only begin to describe all of the fantastic friends that we made, the wonderful places that we visited and the very fond and happy memories that we have! I hope you have all enjoyed reading about our adventures and a big thank you to all of you that stayed in contact and followed us along the way!Until next time…. Amy and Becks xx
