Hey........so we are in Peru!!
It took us about a week to travel down from Cartagena in Columbia to Peru! The bus journeys were LONG! I think the longest was 22 hrs!!
We left Cartagena on the saturday evening after the mud baths and went to Bogota on an over night bus. We stayed a night in Bogota then went to Ipiales....again on an overnight bus...so we could cross the boarder back into Ecuador. Literally we got off the bus form Bogota, corssed the boarder straight away, got a bus form Tulcan (the Ecudorian boarder crossing town) to Quito...5hrs.....then from Quito straight to Riobamba in Ecuador.
On the bus from Quito to Riobamba my camera got stolen!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!! After a v v long time travelling....I was very tired and really was not happy about my camera being stolen! Also my purse was aswell....no money in it fortunately...just my student card and drivers license! .....I hated my drivers license photo anyway sooo wasnt bothered about that!
I was just REALLY gutted about losing all of my Columbia photos! It was sooo beautiful and we did sooo much! Josh hardly took any photos...so sadly Columbia is just going to be memories!
We stayed in Riobamba for 2 nights...unfortunately missed doing the devils nose train. Then we left for the Peruvian boarder. Which we meant to cross with a bus company called Civa, at night but we ended up crossing ourselves with a taxi. Only to find out later that that is VERY dangerous!
Luckily we were alright though.
We stayed a night in Tumbes, the boarder town then got a bus to Mancora a few hours south. We stayed in a Loki hostel.....which means lots of drinking. It was right on the beach with a pool as well and it was full of young party people. So we based ourselves there for a few days......drinking at night then sunning it during the day.
The last day I went out for a cheap Sushi lunch with a fewof the guys we had met.....Dad and Shelle you would have loved it!!
We caught a night bus to Lima...another 18 hrs!! But it was semi cama and did include dinner and breakfast which is more than I can say for some!
We got to Lima on the 25th and stayed at the Loki here for a few nights...again drinking! On the 26th we had a look round Lima....sights etc...but I still didnt have my new camera so still couldnt take any photos!
We have now arrived at the hotel which is the starting point of our Inca trail We are due to have an introduction talk this evening then we fly to Cusco tomorrow early in the morning!
Today also I got my new camera!! I did have to go to the office to pick it up...which took a while...but stilll I now have a camera!!! Wooooooooooo!!! Thanks to my LOVELY parents!!
Josh sadly has been quite ill for the last few days which is not good news....but hopefully will be better by the time we start the trail. Im going to be gutted for him if he is feeling under the weather while doing it...itll just ruin it for him.
Anyway....next time I update this I will be 19!!!! My birthday is on the last day of the Inca trail...which is kinda cool. We are staying in Cusco...probably the Loki again for a few nights then possibley going to Nazca to see the Nazca lines then Arequipa before heading into Boliva.
Hope everyone is well back home.
Lots of love
Amy
