We left Westport early this morning ready to get our costumes sorted for our party later that day! It felt very english this morning as it was chucking it down with rain and I decided to take a short walk to try and see some seals, this ended very badly as I had no waterproof clothes on. So soaking wet clothes and not managing to see any seals at all we were back on the bus and organising what costumes we were going to make. Having stopped off at a place called "Pancake Rocks" we went for a walk to collect leaves and parts of trees for our friend Bron's costume (she had decided go as Eve as in Adam and Eve with another lad from our bus! We then carried on into a town called Greymouth where there was a big supermarket type shop to get the rest of our costumes. Amy had decided to go as a deck of cards and I was attempting to go as a chess board. We started to make our costumes on the bus on the way to the pub we were staying at but didnt get very far so it was going to be a big task later on! We arrived at the pub and found the caravan type room we were staying in, then we headed off to the beach for a bit. After a game of rugby later with some of the new people on our bus we headed back to the room to get ready for dinner (a steak dinner made by the 87 year old pub owner, Les!) After a very scrummy and filling dinner it was time to get to work on the costumes. We sat for a couple of hours cutting out bin bags, attatching cards, white peices of material, leaves and god knows what else to everyone! A few hours later and our costumes were complete and we were ready to party in the pub. We managed to get to know lots of people on the new bus and had a very fun night in this little pub...The next morning was not as enjoyable when we had to leave very early and nothing was packed. A mad rush of packing making sure we had got everything and we were ready to set off on the journey to Franz Josef.
Lots of love Meg and Amy xxxx ps oh yes this was also the place that I seemed to have misplaced my phone. It wouldnt be me if I didnt lose a phone once along the trip!
