Hi everybody!
Well it's been yet another long time but yet ther is more to tell!! Since Xián I have been on the go up until now pretty much!! I stayed a night in a place called Xichang? (I think) and then set sail along the Yangste River!!! We were on quite a big boat, could fit about 500 people and sailed down to the three gorges (which although claims to be the biggest dam in the world, isn't acutally very big) ha! The first night we were on the bost we sailed into a thunderstorm and a load of us sat on the deck watching the lightning and hearing the thunder right above us, it was brilliant! Though got a tad wet. The next morning I woke up and looked out of my window to mountains surrounded by clouds and small meditation temples dotted in red amongst the rock and trees. It was truly a lovely start to the day, We then got onto a smaller boat to take us along a tributary of the river and walked along it on a raft walk thing which made me feel like a pirate! harhar! Learning about people's lifestyles on the river was amazing and really opened my eyes to the whoel live by the land thing...but this coudl be the travel bug talking.
Back on land we travelled further by train to a place called Yangshuo, where is the place that the HSBC advert was set with the Cormorant fishing! Surrounded by mountains and with the Li river running through it, it was yet another lovely place to relax and take in the fresh (for once) air! I trekked and mountain climbed (With a crazy old lady fanning me halfway up until I refused to buy water and she went a bit eggy on me) and found a place called moon hill rock, the views were beautiful, mountains surrounding rice fields and children swimming in the river in the distance! I got a bit jealous of the kids so got a bike and went river swimming myself! It was very refreshing! No way as cold as Lake Bakail but the current kept me working hard! The next day I went to a cookery school but first had to go to the market for the ingredients, all hustle and bustle until I got to the meat section and you know what I saw....I don't need to tell you, but it was horrible! Who eats that anyways!!! The cooking itself was amazing and I'll make evryone Gung Po Chicken, stuffed pork sumplings and spicy eggplant when I come back! (Hopefully I'll pick up more culinary delights on the way!)
So, now to Hong Kong, what a change it is from the rest of China. That British influence is still going strong! The diffrerence in the people's manners are the biggest thing (except of the left handed driving and sky scrapers) but this place is alomost like home and quite a welcome change from the previous 40+ days! I've been to soho and Hong Kong Island, tommorrow is the temple and Victoria Peak (weather permitting!) and then onto my new adventure!! Next time it'll be Rennie and Shar's World Tour incriment! I'll write sooner next time, promise!!!!
