I visited Belgrade last year during the summer holidays and it was an amazing experience. Belgrade is the capital of Serbia and it's located at the point where the rivers Danube and Sava meet. This charming city is home to several historic monuments and I was lucky enough to visit most of them.
My favorite place in Belgrade is the centuries-old Belgrade Fortress. I could see the Danube and Sava rivers stretching across the landscape from the top of the fortress and the view was absolutely spectacular. Nature, architecture and history come together in one place to make the Fortress one of Belgrade's most enchanting landmarks.
Belgrade is a bustling city and I found that there was plenty for me to do besides sightseeing. The beaches around the Sava lake are a well-known tourist destination and I was so happy that I got to visit them. The glistening sands and cool water make the beaches a great location for water sports. I decided to try something exciting and I went bungee jumping and water skiing, two activities that I had never done before in my life!
The dining options are unique in Belgrade. There are many well-known restaurants located on rafts in the rivers. I got to have a mouth-watering dinner on a restaurant floating on the Sava lake, which really was a once in a lifetime experience. Belgrade has several areas where restaurants and nightclubs sit on rafts and float on the water.
Belgrade is a city that embraces its historical roots and welcomes modernity at the same time. I found that one of the best ways to take in all the sights was by travelling in a tram. One of the trams I took had a circular route and it went all around the city center, giving me a wonderful view of all the charms the city had to offer.
