After a great nights sleep with no snoring, I got my stuff together for our trip out to the Ger camp and went down for breakfast. The breakfast was really good. It was nice to have eggs and toast again. After breakfast we moved our bags in to the storage room and took our daypacks with us on to the bus. On the bus, even with the heater going it was still freezing and I couldn't feel my toes and because I was at the back of the mini bus I had no room to move my feet, so any opportunity to get off I took it.
We stopped after about an hour of driving at an Ovoos, which is a shamanistic stone mound, which are usually found in worship of the mountains and the sky and when we got out to have a look we were surprised to find the most cutest and scared puppy ever! We tried to coax it down from the Ovoos but it was just too scared so we vowed to come back on the way back to check to see if it was ok.
We stopped here from quite a while, as the view was spectacular so we went a bit photo mad. We then continued onto the Ger camp and wished we could see out the windows and enjoy the amazing scenery but the windows were covered in ice. We arrived at the camp around 11.30am and we were immediately excited to be here. We were allocated our Ger's, I was sharing with Tina, Robin and Doug. Robin and Doug were also from Queensland.
After settling in we headed to the dinning Ger for lunch where we enjoyed a traditional Mongolian meal. After lunch we went for a walk around the camp and took in the amazing scenery before us. Our local guide Nemo then showed us how to do archery. Which was a lot of fun. No one was able to hit the rather large target, which was a fur but still good fun none the less. We then had the opportunity to go horseback riding and hearing about it from my friend Lindsay who I met on my China trip, I was excited to give it a go, so was Robin and Doug.
The horses we were to ride were quite small and cute. Our guide Harrah took us through the valley of the national park, which was so beautiful, but oh so cold as I lost all feeling in my toes. We tried to get the horses to gallop but they just didn't want to move, so we had to trot the whole way, which was not good if you had no feeling in your legs. We came back to the camp and immediately went into our Ger to warm up.
For dinner we went into the dinning Ger where it was steaming hot as Lois had stoked the fire just a tad too much but at least it was warm. We enjoyed another Mongolian meal, then played cards before going to bed but we dared not drink too much as the dunny was a wooden shed with a hole in the ground and the temp was now -33C!
