Wed 8/8
Arrived in Hue around 9:30ish in the morning. Had a hotel with a private room for a change (crazy coz its cheaper than a hostel here!) Still had a dodgy stomach after feeling ill over the weekend so decided to have a relaxing day, after lunch we headed back to the hotel and watched films all afternoon (i slept for a bit) Went out for a late dinner and then caught up with everyone on skype, fine to get it all done in one night as it saves having too many late nights wae the time difference. Think it was 4 in the morning before we finally got to sleep!lol.
Thu 9/8
Needless to say we didn't have an early start today. Think it was around 12 before we got up. Went out for a late lunch and a wander round the streets, got our bus booked for leaving here and that was about all there was time for. Met Cat and Ali for a drink in the evening. They are leaving tomorrow but should hopefully catch up wae them in Hoi An again.
Fri 10/8
Think we picked the best day for sightseeing, although it was meant to be a high of 38C there was a nice breeze all day! Wandered across the river to the citadel and visited the museum which Cam enjoyed as they had a few tanks and helicopters and stuff and then went to the imperial enclosure where we spent most of the day wandering around all the walled gardens and buildings. It was much bigger than we expected. Some how we managed to skip lunch so headed back to a French restaurant near our hotel for an early dinner. Decided to have the fillet steak as a treat, only £4.90 which not bad for steak but expensive for Vietnam! Didn't get off to a good start when I got told that they could only cook it rare or medium (I know well done is meant to spoil steak but its the way I like it and i believe the customer should get what they want regardless of the chefs views!) Ordered a medium steak anyway, the sauce and mashed tatties were really really good but the steak wasn't fit to eat, definitely not fillet, it was so chewy! I could only eat about half of it because to me it was rare, not medium, don't like when blood runs on to the plate when you cut it! Then to top it off the waitress asked how the meal was and i said it wasn't to my liking and she asked why I didn't send it back to be cooked more.....eh because i got told i could not have it cooked the way i wanted!! Worked out fine in the end coz we got my meal for free and both still had a good feed regardless of the steak! :)
