This last saturday I got a last minute train ticket to Cardiff, Wales with my friend Michelle. She was planning on going alone because she couldn't fine anyone, but as soon as she told me she was going to the Dr. Who Experience....I HAD to go! Our train left at 6:30 am and got us there around 8:45 am. When we go there it was SO cold and, because of how early it was, it felt like we were the only ones around. We walked down to the bay; deciding to start off with the Dr. Who Experience. We ended up getting there 30 minutes before opening so we met two other American exchange students and just talked to them. When it was finally time to go in I was so excited! It starts off with an interactive video, getting to "drive" the Tardis, and you saving the Doctor from the Pandorica...again. After that you get to go into a room full of all the props, costumes, and sets used in the filming of the show. It's amazing seeing everything up close. I never thought I'd get to do this. Once we were done there we set off to find some lunch. We ended up deciding on eating a Diner called Eddie's. It's an American based Diner that I ended up recognizing from the episode The Impossible Astronaut from Dr. Who. I was so excited and then on top of that the food was really good and inexpensive. Through out our whole time there I recongized shots from the show. I was like a kid in a candy store. Speaking of candy stores. There is a candy store in Cardiff filled with American candy and, to our surprise, Twinkies. I never thought I would see them again and yet there they were. It was a nice surprise. From there we walked on to a shopping area/ Cardiff Market. It's a really nice area to walk around and we even saw street performers. Right next to the market is also Cardiff Castle. It cost to go inside so we just walked around the outside. We got plenty of photos and saw some really pretty wild flowers. By that time we ended up needed to kill time, so we walked back to the shopping area. There is an indoor part of the shopping mall and, since the weather still hadn't warmed up and had even snowed, we decided to walk in there. Before catching the train back to Exeter we ended up getting a treat at an American classic, Krispy Kreme. It was a nice comfort and a nice end to our trip to Wales. We only spent one day there, but that's all you really need if you are not a Dr. Who fan.
