Right so finishing off where we last left this!
From the coach we were originally on we had to get off on a side street, outside what was actually where the company ran its business! We had to show them our receipt to be given a sticker to our destination! We waited there almost an hour until smaller transport came to cart everyone off! A small open backed mini bus came, which Alys joked that this was for us. It actually was for us! Initially we thought this would take us for the remaining 7odd hours. Luckily (and quite randomly) it took us to another stop further down the road where we were branded with yet another sticker. Eventually a small mini bus arrived and a few of us piled on. The driver couldn't speak a word of English and didn't know where any of the hotels were (he was rather moody as well) but at least we were on our way!
We finally left the hustle and bustle of a city area and began meandering through the more rural areas of Thailand! From garages to resturants, to houses made from stone with gates surrounding it to a tiny house made from wood just right next door to it. There seems to be no sense of class within the different parts of the country, people either have money or they don't! It was also nice to see how green a country thailand is too! It is a tropical country with large trees with rich greenery.
After a few hours we had a stop in a side restaurant. We had to squat over the toilets (which were like a hole in the ground) and had to be flushed with throwing water down the hole! At a first glance the place didn't seem that nice however we both enjoyed a chicken burger, which was by far the best chicken burger I had had in a long time! I must admit even on the side of a street the Thai know exactly how to make good food!
Another few hours and some mixed naps we crossed the bridge into Phuket! Alys did get rather excited as she saw 3 elephants walking along the side of the road!
We imagined Phuket to be similar to Koh Samui but we were wrong. Phuket seems much more built up than any part of Koh Samui was! Heading into Patong (the area we are staying in) we could see billboards, lots of lights, actual malls and loads of people! We were dropped off in the city centre and got a taxi to our hotel. Our hotel is much cleaner than our hut and has much more space!
12 hours of travelling and we were ready to collapse!
More to come soon!!

Sue. How interesting. Can just imagine Alys's face on seeing the elephants. I'm sure you must be very good girls getting so many stickers. Take care my girlies. xxx
