Blog entry number 1. We made it safe and sound!

After a long flight, many films and sleep we arrived in Bangkok. Negotiating security was no problem, however the fine art of queuing was lost on many of the locals as our polite line of Brits was repeatedly breached by somewhat more eager regulars!

Taxi was a bit hairy but we arrived unharmed and found our hotel on Khaosan Road. Hotel is a treat and is perhaps a touch too good for us. It's got a swimming pool, fitness gym and a full shopping mall with bars in the complex. We made the most of the bars last night, and today have used the swimming pool (after an intense suncream application session for Alun), and gym.

Last night's meal was an event. Everywhere we went ppl were dragging us in and offering us special prices, preying on us whiteys like there's no tomorrow, however in the end we went to this cool little restaurant where the waiter had a great time challenging us to chilli eating tasks after having witnessed Andy struggle with the heat on his morning glory (that was the name of his meal). The end result of this little contest with the waiter was a free meal for Alun, which was a treat.

Today we've been in and around the hotel and we're due to go do the touristy things tomorrow.

We both feel like giants which is a novelty that is not getting boring.

Gonna have to wrap this up as the time is running out on our internet, hope you're all well and not too depressed that we're not there lighting up your days!
