Yesterday we used our rail pass for the first time to Galway and it went surprisingly smooth. It was raining when we arrived so we ducked into the nearest pub had a beer and waited out the rain. Galway feels more traditionally Irish than Dublin did. The hostel were staying at here is pretty unique. The amounts of twists and turns we have to take to get to our room is ridiculous.
One thing I've learned about Irish food is they LOVE mayo.. all different kinds on just about everything. It's a little crazy. I'd say my mayo intake is up about 80% and that is not a good thing.
We started out this city like we did the last with a pub crawl. This was a lot of fun probably more than the first since we got to know everyone a lot better than the one in Dublin. We learned an Irish jig and some Gaelic words at this one pub. At the next one I finally got the chance to ride a mechanical bull. It was a lot harder than it looked but still fun! The tour provided shots at each bar and at this one we were given a shot of Irish moonshine which was made from potatoes. Not as bad as you would think initially but it burned! Lots of dancing ensued and made lots of good friends (especially our friends from Cork :) Galway gets two thumbs up!
Slainte!
