Today was my last day in Tarragona, and I finally hauled myself out of my hotel room, after a little prodding from Mom. A couple days ago, I asked the receptionist to point out some of the sights on the map. So, after having some breakfast, I began my walk down Tarragona's Rambla. I was actually quite surprised at how many shops and restaurants it had. Something or other was definitely going on today, becuase despite the fact that everything is closed on Sundays, the street was packed. They had this football scarf that spanned the entire street, and doubled over itself several times. There didn't seem to be much going on, other than the beer garden, so I continued to walk to the Roman ampitheater. It was very well preserved, and the view from it was spectacular. It's located right beside the ocean, and just on the other side of the street, I was able to check out what was left of a Roman circus. It was less impressive than what I had seen earlier, but it was still a worthwhile visit none the less. I was tempted to have a look at the town's cathedral, but I decided otherwise. I doubted there would be much to differentiate it from the multitudes of others that I had seen. So, after a few hours out and about in the sun, I picked up a coffee gelato, and headed home. It would be 8 oclock when I left my room for dinner. I had decided to eat outside of my hotel , after being assured by the receptionist that the one she had in mind was open. It turns out she was wrong. The tazi took me to a place that was a bit of a dive, but the food was consumable. One of the waiters realized that I spoke English, and said he wanted to practice with me. So I humored him and accepted his number, and let him buy me a shot. We talked for a while, before I said that I should head back, so he called a cab for me, slightly dissapointed that I was leaving, but kindly waited with me for my taxi to arrive. We talked for around 20 minutes. Spanish and English are his 2nd and 3rd languages, as he comes from Brasil and speaks Portugese. My cab finally arrived, but he had gone to call me another, so I told the dirver to wait, while I ran back to tell him that I was leaving. We did the whole euro kiss thing which is the norm around here, but when I turned to leave, he just went for it and actually kissed me. I'm not even going to pretend that I didn't like it, besides, I'm terrible when it comes to lying.
