So.... We got up bright and early, earlier than anticipated as the combination of the time difference and setting out alarm at the wrong time got us up and down to breakfast by about 6.30am!! I had pancakes and sugar and lemon and Charlie had eggs for breakfast. We then set off to explore Hanoi. Right outside our hotel there was person after person selling various foods on the pavement: fruit, vegetable (both of there relatively unrecognisable to us!) cuts of meat, fish, whole chickens... You name it, you could buy it off the street, and it stunk! We followed our little tourist map and saw a pretty red bridge to a pagoda. Here was when we were first approached to speak to Vietnamese children to help them practise speaking English, which was quite funny! We did some more site seeing and ended up with blisters and lost by the end of the day... We hopped in a cycle tour bike and asked him to take us back to our hotel but he insisted on taking us for a city tour on the way, which also cost us! But we were glad we did it. A strange dinner in a strange 'gastro pub', a Hanoi beer and then early to bed ready for our Halong Bay cruise!
