Chicago, Illinois
Well, I made it to Chicago and I still have all of my luggage. I'm going to consider that a success.
Unfortunately, it took me 45 minutes just to navigate O'Hare and get to the international terminals. I picked up my bags and went straight to the security checkpoint. By this time, I was already hungry and tired. Pulling a hundred pounds of luggage through a huge airport is a fantastic way to find out how in (or out) of shape you really are. I went through security mostly without a hitch. I realized after my bag was already in the x-ray machine that I left a bag of Skittles I brought and my quart-size bag of liquids in my backpack, which were definitely supposed to be on the belt with everything else. Oops. Luckily, I had on my best confused traveler face, and I assume the TSA personnel just let it go, because unlike for the guy in front of me, no one had to yell "Bag check!".
There are no restaurants beyond the security checkpoint for the international terminals. Of course, I found that out a few seconds after I stepped past the x-rays. Here comes three hours of eating $9 turkey on rye, $5 yogurt, and $3 Skittles. Yum.
