After a long 11 hour sleepless flight from New Zealand we finally arrive in Santiago. My Brazilian partner and I found a hotel kiosk and got hooked up with a 4 star hotel for one night. As soon as we leave the airport we have swarms of Chillien people wanting us to use their taxi service. One guy takes us to a van and expects a tip..yeah whatever he aint getting no tip. On our trip to our hotel I notice how baron Santiago seems. Imagine the desert road in New Zealand with a few big buildings scattered about.
We arrive at our hotel and Gabby does all the Spanish communication, as they speak very poor English here. As we settle down in the room for the night I notice a few differences from back home. 1. The water here tastes like crap! Even the so called bottled water 2. Toilet paper goes in the bin not down the toilet...thats going to take a while to come to grips with, however Brazil has a squirting system that cleans your bum woohoo. Apparently the toilets in South America don't have a powerful flush system..hah.
The view from the window in our hotel shows a big metropils city in the near distance. There is also moutains scatterd around the city which also has a little bit of snow on them (will load a pic soon).
Coming to grips with the time difference is a bit of a mission. We were wide awake at 12pm though slept throughout the day. The body is slowly adjusting now :)
We get up in the morning to go and have breakfast and seriously it was the BEST breakfast I have ever had in my life!!! Imagine a range of exotic fruits, a selection of beverages, deserts, cerals mmmmmmmm. I thought I had died and gone to breakfast haven.
Well I am back in the hotel room now preparing for our next flight to destenation Brazil. I am planning on doing one of these blogs most days, though we will see how long that lasts.
