So that evening we decided that sitting around not watching a film wasn't an option, and also decided that even if the nightlife in Santa Cruz, Bolivia on a Wednesday night isn't good, if we get enough people together we can make it good. We did just thatand had a long search for a good club, and eventually found one witha live band who played salsa as well as rock classics like Bon Jovi's Living on a prayer - was a very fun night.
So then the next day, although I was looking forward to the football, I was sort of relieved that the pouring rain meant thatthe trial was cancelled. It would have been really cool to go to, but I just wasn't in the mood for it. So as far as I remember I spent the rest of that day doing absolutely nothing, except playing a really funny game with a few of the others in the hostel, inspired by Roly and just involved making fools out of ourselves.
Next day was Luz Del Mundo again, and because it wasn't on on Saturday of this week, it was the last day for Roly, Rebecca, Julian, Olivia and Toni. It's bad that they've all turned out to be leaving at the same time as it means on Monday I'll be one of only 2 volunteers there and will have a lot of work and responsibilty, but I guess those are good things. Gabriella said they have more volunteers on their way soon. It was a really good day there, and emotional for some of the volunteers who have become quite attached to some of the kids. I think I'll enjoy the extra work though. Thenwe went to the market, then I had another Spanish lesson, then I watched more football, and read (I have been reading a lot more recently - maybe just out of boredom), went for a run with Roly which felt really good and refreshing, before eating and then we went out again for the evening.
Then there was noLuz Del Mundo the next day so I had not much to do on Saturday, got up for breakfast though, before heading into the centre for a little while, didn't do much, just got some fresh air , and then I phoned Louis, arranged to meet him that evening, and also phoned the football coach I'd met in the park. It turned out they were training at that time so I went along and had a watch. It was a proper football acadamy with good facilities, equipment, and loads of pitches. We arranged a time for me to come back with Limber, the kid from Luz del Mundo who I think should try and join a team, so I will break the news to him tomorrow at LDM which I'm sure will make him really happy. The problem before this was that they trained in the afternoons when Limber has school so itlooked doubtfulas to whether he could go, but it turnsout they sometimes train in the mornings so we'll goalong earlyon Tuesday. Sothen after thatI headed out and met Louis, we got a quality dinner, which cost me 23 Bolivianos (1.60 pounds roughly) and I got a steak, rice, Yucca (a sortof potato like veg) and all you can eat salad. Then we went and met his cousin, played a fewgames of FIFA on the playstation, before heading to a club and meeting the Irish guys from the hostel. I thought Louis' friends would be coming but they ended up going somewhere else, so Louis and his cousin went there and I stayed with the Irish guys. We got back pretty late which meant that today I did absolutely nowt. This is nice and relaxing but I'm starting to become slightly bored with things here. Whilst I enjoy LDM a lot, I think it's almost time for me to get out of Santa Cruz, so I think I'll do acouplemore days at the foundation and then head to La Paz. That's me up to date
