Well hello again people!
Happy New Year and Good luck for 2007 and all that! Hope you all had a fantastic time!
Following our crazy Tango night out in Buenos Aires we decided to take the next day a little easier...chilling out at La Boca, a colourful area with lots of little markets and tango dancers... Had a few wines and felt a lot better! Went out to a Sushi Restaurant that was amazing... and had a few mojitos... but an early night!
New Years Eve, we went for a nice lunch involving champagne...as it was offically the end to our first guided tour lots of people headed home, so we had to celebrate the end to the trip in style.... Ended up at a great argetinian restaurant, with a group of around 30 ´Gap people´ eating a massive steak and more champagne (nikki beach!) Had a really great night, ended up in an amazing club @ 2am called Opera Bay, it was massive and had a swimming pool and everything! Although we didnt swim! ha! Stayed there till dawn... was really great to see the sunrise although yesterday we were pretty ill to say the least!
I managed to perform the most stupid thing of the trip so far by leaving my cash card in the machine, luckily i cancelled it in time for there to be little damage! doh! then we managed to pick up some fake money in change... with the hangover as well it was a really bad 24 hours! But we survived!
Yesterday we took the flight to Peru, arrived at midnight and straight to bed... its a lot cooler here than argentina, im gutted as my tan is already fading! at 7.30 am we got the transfer to the airport again for the flight to Cuzco, 3000m in the andes= very impressive! Arrived and it rained... i am so looking forward to camping and trekking in it! (not!) Then it thundered, hailed and there was lightening.... although the people seem really nice and our group is nice too... all girls again, apart from 2 guys... (one is the spitting image of the thailand Sven - Adam is the only one who will under stand this!) think he will get his machette out and cut out way through the inca trail! ha! Anyways... Yes, everyone seems nice... we located the only Irish bar in Cuzco and managed lunch and a beer,....with watchin chelsea it was heaven! ha!
Off out with the group tonight for tea, then a small hike tomorrow, followed by the 4 day inca trail... We have been told to bring a positive attitute! but im still dreading the walking! bring on the blisters!
Hope everyone had a great new year- let us know what u have been up to... and enjoy the first week back at work (hehe! gotta get in the gloating whilst i can!)
Lots of love
Ali & Hels Bels
