G'day all...
Well here i am now in Perth, I have travelled 3/4 of the way around oz now and am still loving every minute of it. I have gone 10696 km so far... (Thats from Sydney to Cairns to Alice Springs to Darwin to Perth)
Since last blog in Brisbane i went with Chris and Sanne to Magnetic Island for the Full moon party which was a right giggle - especially hiring a mini moke (which looked like something barbie would drive), I have been on a cattle station and did some goat mustering. Went to Carins and done my SSI dive course (am now a certified Diver) swam with turtles and loads of other crazy fish! it was amazing...i then went to Alice Springs and saw Uluru - its huge, i had no idea how big this rock would actually be, it took us 2 1/2 hours to walk around the base of it! We then went to Kata Tjuta which is just as beautiful... and then started to make our way up to Darwin, stopping along the way to swim in creeks etc...we went to Barrow Creek where the overland telegraph station is and had a nosey about lol, Went to Katherine Gorge, Then up to Darwin, didnt spend much time here - went to Kakadu National Park - ended up getting on the wrong bus, got on the 3 day tour instead of the 2 days ooops!!! Saw loads of crocs and saw the Aboriginal Rock Art! its amazing! Went to Litchfield National Park aswell and ended up jumping off some waterfalls! Then back to Darwin where i was meetin Chris Sanne and Ailish to start our road trip down to Perth...
The Road trip was brilliant, the van was a bit rubbish but she got us to perth safely :) We stopped at Katherine, a little place called Halls Creek, we wanted to go to Wolfe creek but we couldnt get down the road :( we made our way over to Broome, stopping at Derby and a couple of little road side stops where there was just a drop toilet! NICE!!!! but it was free so wasnt complaining! Broome is beautiful, we stayed at a caravan site which was right on the sea front! we caught some gorgeous sunsets and rises and went to the oldest outdoor cinema in the world...We headed to Exmouth, where we spent a few days hanging out at Turquoise Bay (ningaloo reef) we did some snorkling here and swam with another turtle - chris saw a shake but me and the girls were sitting on the beach at this point! The reef was literally no more than 10m from the beach! It was amazing! i didnt want to leave, Coral bay is just as stunning the fish here were huge!!
We carried on down the coast and went to Monkey Mia - i fed a dolphin (teeth are huge) and there were loads of pelicans they are massive! i've never been that close to them before - actually i dont think i had seen one before! There little feet are so cute, with there massive bodies i cant believe that they dont fall over! lolWe ended up going for a walk and came across an emu, he was lying there in the middle of the path! We thought he was injured so we stared at him for a bit then carried on - its ok dont panic the emu was fine - he ended up following us for a little bit! lol
The West coast is beautiful...kind of prefer it over here than on the east! Perth seems great but havent really spent much time in the city yet - so will update you all shortly on that...
