We arrived in Tak on Saturday afternoon after a 7 hour journey. Probably the longest bus ride I'd been on in my life (up to this point!) I was picked up at the bus station by Pee Ju (my Co-teacher) and Pee Pin (my host mother). For the first two weeks we stayed in Pee pins's house which is really nice-more than I was expecting-and for the first week I mostly lazed about the house all day as we'd been given it off to settle in and recover from jet lag. I didn't seem to have any surprisingly, I think I slept it off in Bangkok, so I had a lovely few days just relaxing (which I am very good at!) I wrote some letters, and went to 7/11 a lot (which Thai's are obsessed with - they're everywhere!)
On my first Friday in Tak, I took part in the school sports day parade. I was dressed up as an Thai Army officer (they somehow managed to find shoes in my size) and walked about Tak for what seemed like for EVER! Even though it was early morning - well about 9 am it was really starting to get hot and I just wanted it to hurry up and end! It was good fun though - and my first experience of bad Thai organisational skills! I have had many experiences since though!
