So finally some new stuff to talk about!
First of all ... yesterday was so crazy. I went to my very first Luau, it was AMAZING! (check out the videos!) So at the luau we all got leis, open bar, and the most amazing food! There were Hawaiian dancers performing the entire night, with a special show at the end re-enacting the discovery of Hawaii. The show was so awesome, I loved every second of it!!!! I actually took so many pictures and videos that the memory card on my camera was too full! =]
So as we are all still on a high from the great show, we went to a bar for a quick drink before getting back on the ship, when we saw the news about the earthquake and tsunami warnings. We were heading back to watch Andrea and her friend compete in dancing with stars so we made it back before the ship had to evacuate the port. They were making announcements all night about what the situation looked like and what we were going to do about it. Finally the ship left port to head for deep water to avoid the tsunami. Unfortunately some people were left on the island until the next day (i wish i had been one of them!) That night i fell asleep instantly and didn't even notice any rough waters, or anything at all. Today when we woke up, we were still at sea and the port did not open until around 1030am. Ours was luckily one of the first in the state to be reopened. I am very thankful that we were all okay, and nothing very serious happened! Thank you for your prayers and thoughts! Hopefully Japan will make it through this soon!
In other news ... =] The Kīlauea volcano started to erupt more violently this week. (i think that was the cause of the earthquake in hawaii) This week i took my day off on the Big Island which is where the volcano is located. We went to the volcano national park, and it was awesome! Unfortunately, due to the recent eruption a big part of the park was closed because the sulfur in the air is too dangerous. We were still able to see a lot, we walked in one of the dormant volcanoes and also were able to walk through lava tubes! The park was beautiful and it was soo exciting to be walking around an actual volcano!
Every thing else is going great! I still LOVE it here! I am having a blast and loving all the new friends i have been meeting! I definitely miss home though too! And can't believe i will be home in just 6 short months! Time does fly out here!
Hope everyone is doing well and gettting pumped for the spring! =] =] =]
