Day 5 - Shrewsbury to Preston
94 miles
Finally had a fairly flat day with a decent tailwind most of the day so seemed to fly along. Having dosed up well on painkillers at breakfast the knee seemed a lot better as well.
The road we were meant to be on early on was closed so small arrows had been placed along the cycle friendly diversion. Still the majority of the group somehow missed the first drink stop and reappeared a little down the road!!
Mum and dad caught up with us in the morning and followed throughout the rest of the day complete with video camera so will probably have some lovely footage!!
Despite some very heavy rain in the afternoon we continued to make good progress getting into Preston by 4pm, somehow ahead of the majority of the group. Despite being on one road for almost the whole day several seemed to have managed to get lost...
Have a long day tomorrow of 100 miles over the hills in the lake district so early start...
