We took the jeeps to Pushkar where we went on our camel safari! Not very comfy!! The semi desert area around Pushkar was beautiful and it was lovely to see all the farms and the very rural village life that goes on there! We were only on the camels a couple of hours (Thank god!) and then we set up camp for the evening – one big tent (which apparently we shared with a dog at some point in the night!) We watched a fantastic sunset, ate some I think slightly dodgy food and then settled down for the night. Again it was freezing!! I woke up at one point (probably by the sound of camel snores!) and could see the moon perfectly through the sheet that was the roof of the tent!
We left the desert quite early in the morning and went to the hotel we were staying in. James and I thought we’d treat ourselves to a bit of relaxation after doing so much in such a short space of time, so spent the rest of the day by the pool! We also shared a hookah (a pipe for smoking flavoured tobacco through although apparently it’s not tobacco – just flavour!) with our guide! We had apple flavour… it was ok but gave me a bit of a headache!
On our last day in Pushkar we did some shopping in town and then got taxis to Ajmer. From here we caught the afternoon/evening train back to Delhi.
