Sorry to all those that have struggled with my journal, I didn't really understand it either but emma has now set me up with this so I'll give you an update of my blog posts so far...
21st July- We have had a lovely couple of days in Venice now.....it really is so beautiful, but massively expensive and now that we have done almost all of what we can find that is free and sampled all the good Italian food, we sort of need to get out of here. So have booked a train over to Slovenia where we have a much cheaper hostel booked. love to all.xxxxx
23rd July- We have now had our first day in Slovenia, got here on a train overnight and manged to get into a really nice hostel that is normally university dorms, and are now here for a couple more nights. Been doing quite a bit of site seeing though it really has been very hot. Found a lovely market today that just has fruit and veg as far as you can see!! so will be cooking up a treat tonight! have managed to get free internet here so may be checking in alot this week, and may get the first of my photos up. hope all is well at home.xxxxx
27th July- Moved over to Croatia this morning, just caught quite an early train over into Zagreb.......had a really lovely time up in Bled in Slovenia, definately ab underated country that is so beautiful and still quite and non-commercial, definately worth another trip! Today had a good look around the main parts of Zagreb and now with two kiwis in a much nicer hostel where we almost have an apartment between us.....but they have a laptop that theyv lent us :-) its finally cooled down now somuch more comfortable to look around but its now raining so dont really want to go out. much love to all.xxxxxx
8th August- So since the last message, we got an overnight train down to Split, on the coast, and stayed their one night. It was a massively touristy area with not all that much to do so we got a ferry over to the island of korcula and stayed their 3 nights. It was really pretty and small their and the sea was clear, but rocky beaches. In our hostel we met a group of 9 from Leeds and Newcastle and went for the day with them. We hired boats and found a sandy beach and also went snorkelling. We then went with them to the island of Hvar, a much bigger island, and got an apartment for 3 nights. Had some good relaxing time their, and then had a 36 hour travellathon- including one ferry, three trains, a bit of walking and a whole lot of waiting. That took us till last night when we reached this hostel. We are now in Keszthely, a small town at the souh of Lake Balaton in Hungary for a couple more nights when we will move around the lake to a different lakeside town called Sofiok. Love to all.xxxxx
So I haven't actually put anything on here in quite a while......Siofok was nice enough but we ended up in a hotel so there weren't very many travelleres around, but had some nice nights by the lake. From there we went straight to Budapest which is my favourite place so far. It was much much bigger than anywhere else we've been so far but really clean and pretty. We saw quite alot of sights and went to a day of the sziget festival (hungarys version of glastonbury), saw gypsy sound system, went to really traditional baths and visited the castle. We stayed their 5 nights, during which Reb cam out to meet us, then got the train up to Bratislava. Didn't have high hopes for here as had not heard very much good about it. We had three really good nights their though, doing all the sights and on the last night found a club under the castle in an old nuclear bunker- was a very good night. From here we had a bit of a change of plans and went to Vienna. Conveniently we had also met 2 guys from London who were driving their so caught a lift with them. In Vienna we again just did sightseeing and swam in the Danube (I would not advise it, its full of sewage!). We then went to Salzburg, and had persuaded the guys to drive there aswell with the lure of a sound of music tour. We actually managed to get a very good deal with this as it cost 33 euros it was pushing the budget somewhat, but when we got on the coach we were last and they didn't have enough space for all of us. So, we were taken on our own private tour in a minibus. It was really good and we even stopped off to go toboganning. After we went swimming in a lake and then drove over to Munich and stayed in a massive tent that's a 100 bed dorm!!! Essentially its just a big marqueue with lots of bunk beds- i think alot more than 100. It was a very fun night, but I did have 7 blankets. We got up first thin the next day to go south to Neuschwanstein castle which is what the disney castle is based on. Had another lake swim then drove over to prague. We got here at 3.30 this morning and are still surfacing. Going on a walking tour of the city soon though.
Hope this blog reaches everyone, and will add some photos when I don't need to go and get some food. lots of love to everyone.xxxxxxxx
