Day 6 - and what a day it was! Breakfast at the Pakse Hotel to load up on bread and the discovery of the egg station was a bonus. A few haggles later we caught a cheap tuk tuk ride to the Southern Bus Station for half the price we paid last time to catch a bus to Kiet Ngong where the Kingfisher Ecolodge was based. Day 5 - Breakfast at the Tadlo Lodge overlooking the elephants having a morning wash in the river. After checking out we asked if we could hitch a lift to the main road to catch the bus which we eventually found out ran every hour. Unfortunately a lift was not forthcoming as the women wished us good luck in her best english, not a good sign! So the 2km 'hike' started at 0845 and it was already steaming hot! 1/2 an hour later we arrived at the so called bus stop...

Day 4 - mosquito bite no.1 for Chris!! Woke up to the sound of the elephants, obviously hungry. Breakfast up in the restaurant at the lodge which consisted of a bit of scrambled egg and A LOT of fresh french bread! After breakfast it was back to the bungalow to prep for a trek to the Tadlo waterfall some 400m upstream. You may think 400m, that is nothing, but...... You have to walk about 3/4 mile downstream to cross the river and then back up again through occa...

Day 3 - an early (ish) rise to have breakfast at the Pakse Hotel which was adequate but not great. We ordered a tuk tuk from the hotel to the southern bus station which was some 8km out of town. Just as we turned into the bus station we think we saw the dcene of an accident as a policeman was painting white lines around a moped which had fallen over in the road, not sure but looks dodgy! Worse was to come as we arrived at the bus station and after being dropped ...

Day 2 - a nice breakfast at the Lotus Villa in the courtyard before heading off to the airport on our first tuk tuk ride! I had thought it but I now know that there are no rules to the road in Laos! Another propellor plane ride later and we arrived in Pakse. We dumped our bags before heading out into 'town' with it's large market and many street food and drink sellers.
