The sun has finally broken through! I tried not to waste it and spent most of the day outside reading or soaking up the sun as best I can. We tried to make friends with the black swan, whose name is Darth. He hasn't been very friendly these past few weeks and it was only a few days ago it decided to run into Abi and headbutt her legs. Abi, Charlotte, Laurie and I fed Darth some corn which he seemed to be content with. When he realised we had run out of corn, his feathers went up, head went down. We all started backing away slowly but unfortunately for me, I was in his war path. I had a snapping, flapping black swan attacking my legs. He had me jumping up and down looking like an idiot. We all had to leg it back to safety in the bunkhouse and I managed to escape with no war wounds! Looks like making friends will take more time than feeding him a little bit of corn.
Abi, Charlotte and I took the last tour of the day to get some photos of us with the elephants and feeding them. We shared a fruit bucket and took it in turns to take photos of each of us giving Keisha some fruit. We weren't shepherded around like the tourists and I did feel a bit weary when Andrew, the guide, said we could go up to any elephant and start taking pictures as they know us. They might know us, but it still doesn't mean they could snap. Luckily for us the elephants seemed quite happy and I had a lot of photos taken with Mashudu, my favourite along with Keisha. Mashudu actually took commands from us which was awesome. The commands they know are trunk up or steady which hopefully makes them stay still and calms them down. It worked that time anyway! I also got some photos with Keish before she wondered of and got bored with humans!
We all went out for Joan's last weekend to a restaurant in Plett. It was so lovely. We all got to dress up a little bit for our meal to our best of abilities. None of us had really brought anything that smart or going outy. The restaurant was called The Table and we sat at "THE table"! It was huge. Luckily we had 8 people but we still could have fit double the amount around it. The main topics of conversation were about animal welfare and human interference. It was really interesting to hear some of the views that were past around the table. The Brazilian girls had their dinner at KFC so didn't eat with us but instead had a steady flow of mojitos.
They were asked to go to 'Flashbacks' with the waiters and asked us all to go. I wanted to go for a split second and then decided against it. It seemed to be the better decision. When we got back, Abi, Charlotte, Laurie and I all had a drink and started playing 'Perudo'. Laurie was a first timer and seemed to grasp the game so quickly. She only lost once! I want to say beginners luck but it might just be I was being a sore loser.
The sun was still shining on Sunday although we decided against the beach. I sunbathed as best I could in the garden. Would be a little inappropriate to lay around in my bikini where everyone could see. Trying to get rid of your farmers tan without one does prove tricky though! I was still weary of where Darth was and didn't take my eyes of him when he decided to venture onto the grass.
We started to plan our trip to Port Elizabeth and doesn't look like it will be too expensive. We still have to take into account the petrol and we still need to find out if I will be able to drive out here. I've had my licence 3 years but I think it's either 21 or higher. On the websites it says 25 which none of us are.
I didn't feel very well towards the end of the day, probably too much sun! Charlotte made me Bolognese though which was really sweet. It seems to be coming her speciality. Apparently it's going to be up to 32 degrees tomorrow. Must not forget the water!
