I woke up to have the easiest day so far. After my lie in all that was left to do was finish filling the pens with sawdust that we didn't manage to do yesterday. The sawdust was meant to arrive at 10.30am which meant 2 hours to wait around and it was still late. We're there to help the guides with the Boma in the mornings and nights and on Fridays if there's anything to do. We finish at 12.30pm, 1pm at the latest. The guides really didn't get their act together...

Waking up wasn't the easiest of mornings I've had, I'm just glad that Flashbacks wasn't busy. It only got made worse being confronted with Shaka and Clyde's pens. They were a mess and smelled absolutely disgusting. Bending down and searching for warm dung the way I was feeling is definitely a low for me here! We still had to train Raffa and Luisa but lucky for me and Michelle they had pretty much got it so we spent our first field shift basking in the morning sun...bliss! Today has been pretty standard but we have done enrichments for the elephants tonight. Tonight they have pellets soaked in water and molasus and then rolled in leaves to make a ball. I got out of the start of it when the pellets were at their soggiest as Laurie wanted me to learn how to do the buck...

After planning to go to the beach, pretty much all week, we woke to up to hard falling rain. Our first day off and it's the first day it hasn't been roasting. Apparently the whole of the last 2 weeks was a heat wave.
