The "Banfield Whanau Hits Africa" adventure is just three and a half weeks away now. The plan as it currently stands is to climb that big mountain in Tanzania, check out the Serengetti while floating above it attached to a balloon, and to take up my little sponsor girl's invitation to visit her.
Oh, and hopefully to pop up into Uganda to visit Larry, a kiwi colleague of mine, in the orphanage she'll be helping out in, and Saskia, a Dutch girl I studied with in the States, who's working on her anthropological esearch into cultural perceptions of pregnancy.
We were really hoping to fly into Nairobi, and I was particularly looking forward to seeing Mary and Joe again, but, due to the tragic political situation, we're now bypassing Kenya.
