A very lazy morning, packing up, catching up on my e-mail and wincing every time I tried to get up or sit down. I went for a walk around the town and found the old station cafe and had a lovely toastie for my lunch. At the bus stop there were 4 of us waiting for the same bus..2 of us going to Wellington and 2 to Auckland..so we were a bit confused..but it was just a shuttle bus taking us over the park to tanguiro Found my intercity bus..and an atm..which was good as I had almost run out of cash. On the 5 hr trip to Wellington we stopped at a town called Bulls and yes, every possible pun in shop names was there..antiques and collectibulls..asking people to be responsibull with their litter...wanting people to come and be sociabull..I'm sure you are getting the picture!
Arrived at Wellinton after 8..and went for a walk around trying to find some thing for supper.
Realised the reason I'm not cut out for hostelling..you need to be able to sleep thru anything!! I was in my bed at 10.30 and was woken up at 1.30 by people returningto the room...who then stayed awake chatting till 3.30!!. I did manage to get up in time to say goodbye to Amanda before she left.
Walked along the quay in wellington and then caught the cable car to the botanic gardens and spent the morning wandering round and looking at the amazing views over the city. Te papa in the afternoon...a very interesting well thought out museum. Couldn't do it all but thoroughly enjoyed the awesome forces of nature, the history of the maoris and stories from some of the immigrants from the U.K.
Got back to the hostel at 5 and just folded..found somewhere for an early supper and was in my room by 8 to give me time to pack etc..trouble is, everyone else was going the next day too. There were 3 girls from Japan, 1 girl from Germany and 1 from Denmark...so you can imagine the mayhem with 6 of us trying to pack! Very creaky and wobbly bunkbeds do not make for a good nights sleep!!
