Happy Easter!!!
Well I know its been a while since we lasted blogged but weve got a lot to put in this one so it will make up for the gap!
so here goes. After finally getting ali's money card we had one more day to spend in Melbourne so we spent it in St Kilda which is the coolest beach resort about 10 minutes from the city centre. we left early the next morning to begin our OZ Experience!
We were picked up at 6.30 am and there was a MASSIVE bogey on my chair!!! (I thought i was gonna puke!!!). our first stop was in a small cowboyish town of foster where we picked up some lunch bits (not much happened here) then onto Wilsons Promontory which is a HUGE costal National Park!!! It was here that we saw our first wild kangaroos in the bush and there were loads of them!!! they seemed rather tame and they let us get within a few meters before they bounced away! We also saw a Wombat and we got within inches of him (our tour guide said that this was really wierd because thay only usually come out at night and they stay away from people) but this one didnt seem like he cared at all. some of the blokes on our bus put sunglasses on it!!!
We spent the day making friends with the people on the bus and later arrived at lakes entrance for our first nights stay where there is a 90 mile beach. We felt it was our duty to bond with the bus crew (what better way than over a few bottles of wine and a crate of beer!) two of the guys who got a bit roudy were thrown out of the hostel and spent the night in a bush on the beach!
The next day we were up early again to get on the bus for Lake Jindabyne. On the way we stopped in the woods for the loo and we saw some Koalas!!! and then Emus!!! wikid bo! in Jindabyne we did "tubing" (thats rubber rings being towed by a speed boat - like what you do on holiday) with a girl from the bus called charlotte (shes very nice - i have to say that because shes sitting behind me-only joking she is very nice). We spent the night in Jindabyne and the whole bus crew stayed up late drinking again and were a little worse for wear in the morning! this time we were off to Canberra (the capital if you didnt know) where we saw Parliament and the tomb of the unknown soldier! also another bit of useless information - the reason that the kangaroo and the emu are on the australian coat of arms are because neither animal can walk backwards and Australia see themselves as a young and forward moving country! and the other thing about canberra is that even though its the capital it is the only place in the country where you can buy fireworks! and theres a huge porn/drugs industry here!)
anyway we departed Canberra and hit the road for Sydney!!! we arived in the evening so we didnt get a chance do do much and you'll never gguess what...we were told once again that we had no booking. so i told them that if we didnt get a room we would be sleeping in the staff quarters so they gave us a room!!! however we were in two different rooms!
next day we went sight seeing around Sydney and we saw THE OPERA HOUSE! (pics comming) and THE HARBOUR BRIDGE! (pics also coming) it was amazing!!! The royal botanical gardens were cool where we saw Giant fruit bats! and in Hyde park the was a man with a giant bubble machine! The wierd thing about Sydney is that almost everywhere shares a name with a place in london eg. Liverpool st. Oxford st. Kings Cross. Hyde Park. and lots more! we also say an aboriginal playing a didge!
anyway were of to bed now coz its almost half 12!!!
tomorow we are hoping to stay with Stevens daughter (Kylie) and then we will spend the next 2 days with Him at his ranch!!! Will tell you all about it soon!!!
Happy Easter...God Bless...enjoy those eggs! weve been eating cadburys today as a treat but its not the same!!!!!
love you all. Ali and Rob
P.S. I tried calling home today but there was no answer...love you. ROB
