Had an excellent day -- v busy. This morning we came accross an English teacher who pointed us in the direction of a few places of interest more off the beaten track; we ended up being invited to pray to Buddha with a local chap in his temple. Got ripped off by TukTuk drivers several times - if they get you into certain shops they are given petrol vouchers - they aren't happy when you say no! Plus, we have found that TukTuk drivers are very willing to lie to you - they tell you that you are outside the Government tourist information centre, when you are clearly being pushed into a backstreet travel agents.
In the afternoon we looked around the city. This evening we went to 'Sky Bar' - 64th floor of the State Tower building, overlooking the city. Champagne cocktails for 80,000baht, so we stuck to one more reasonably priced martini each! On the way home we bumped into and fed 'Mumbo', an elephant, walking down the street, as you do...
Will probably stay in Bangkok three nights, then on to Ayuttaya on Friday. Still haven't found a watch so feeling quite liberated - we only eat when we are hungry etc! No deadlines to meet so it really doesn't matter.
