This is my last day at the hotel in Potts Point, so I'm trying to take full advantage of the internet here before I leave. It will be a while before I get internet set up in my new place, so I don't know when my next post will be. I signed a 6-month lease for the apartment in Leichhardt yesterday, and I'm about to move in. I have all my stuff packed up now, and I'm dreading taking it all down to the lobby. I'm going to take a cab over to the new place once I check out.
I went over to the apartment yesterday to make sure all my keys work. The place is pretty small, but I love the location. It's right next door to the "Italian Forum" which has some nice authentic Italian restaurants and shops. It's also just down the street from a mall, which has some great food stops and a Coles grocery store as well. I ate at one of the places in the mall yesterday: Norton Seafood. They sell fresh seafood in addition to their grilled seafood plates. It was really good. I tried the mixed grill plate, which included a fish fillet, Tasmanian mussels, calamari rings, jumbo shrimp, and a side of "chips." I was stuffed.
On my way back to the hotel via the subway, a dairy company was handing out loads of their new yogurt as a promotion: Field Strawberries and Citrus Cheesecake. I've never seen so much free yogurt in my life. They were giving out 550 g containers (5 servings) of each. I gladly took the free sample and exited the subway. While I was walking down the sidewalk back to my hotel, a couple of girls came running by. As they passed by, one of the girls looked at my yogurt and yelled, "It IS true!" and continued toward the subway. It is extremely good, especially the citrus cheesecake. It has a thick consistency and really tastes like you're eating pie! The company proudly states "100% Australia Owned" so it's doubtful you'll find their food in the states.
Well, I think I'm going to go check out now and make my way over to my new home for the next 6 months (and possibly year if I like it). I hope it won't be too long before I get my internet set up.
