okay so Perugia is actually a pretty decent sized city and there are 3 universities here. the American one i attend which has about 150 student, a small University of Foreigners for other European students and a big Italian University of Perugia. and every single night of the week you can find at least 300 young people out in the Piazza well into the night.
we live on Via Bartolo which is right in the center of town we are very lucky! and also we are 50 feet away from one of the school buildings! very convenient and good for going out at night. we are in a first floor walk up, with two double bedrooms and one single bedroom. i am in the single! because i am the only one who likes to sleep. my room mates are; Carson from Greenwich ct, Kelley from Austin tx, Sara from outside DC and Angela from outside Boston. we all get a long really well so i am really happy! we start our first day of our intensive italian language week which should be interesting because i have not reviewed italian as much as i should.
we had a second orientation thing on a farm outside of Perugia, where they have community events and everything is done from volunteering and all the food that they make and serve is from the farm. so we got to see how they make pasta and where they pick grapes and olives for wine and olive oil, it was cool to see that part of the culture and what not. we have intensive italian classes for the next 2 days and then the other classes start on wednesday so im excited for that. also next weekend we are trying to go down near the Almafi coast while it is still hot! :-) i cant wait. and the 6 of us (from the dinner) my room mates; Sara, Carson, Kelley, and Angela plus the girl across the hall Katy and i have already booked our flights to and from Barcelona for 6 days during our long mid semester break! 32 Euro round trip which is like 50 dollars! ahh so excited. i want to travel every where but i want to experience life here as well. and i dont want to run out of time.sorry this is so long and scattered and i wish i could tell you more and everything esp about my room mates they are all awesome and pretty laid back and most of us are in similar boy situations which is kinda cool. we just talk a lot about our lives, our boys, our families our travels and random things as well. its so chill. i totally lucked out. and yes as you prob know i have my own room as well. :-). hopefully this isnt just the "honey moon stage" where everything seems better than it is. i really hope it stays like this.
