Today is my last day in the UK until the end of August 2014. It's been a week of 'Are you ready to go?'s 'How are you feeling about it all's and 'I'll miss you!s. I must say i'm not quite ready to go but I probabley never will be; the coast, the friends, the family, all these things have become far to large a part of my life for me to go 'Hey ho, up and away! Off to China, see you in a year!!!111!!!1' on facebook and that be that. I'm nervous. I'm apprahensive. There's shorts bursting out of my suitcase and crawling back towards my comfrotable and well know drawers. It's hard to say goodbye.
But I am feeling so excited. I'm so looking forward to meeting my classes, so happy to be spending a year in a foreign land I've never been to (though thankfully know a bit about). This is my big adventure and, honestley, I cannot wait for it to begin! Tommorow it all kicks off and I'll be flying away with 13 other eager students (including my wonderful roomie Stephen Rowland, check out his blog) to live life as a English teacher ,then comes Bejing and our adjustment week, the language course.... it's all so much to look forward to and though i'm not quite ready to leave I'm more than ready to arrive.
For now though I'd like to say thank you to all my friends and family for supporting me in my decision. This first blog is my love letter to them. Thanks to them the past week has been a wild one; I passed my A-levels and have secured a place at Newcastle Uni to do Law, my 18th birthday with all those festivities- (inappropriate story ommited)- and when I got home, wow. There's also been the firm hugs and ressuarnces that they'll be here when I get back. It's all surmounted to the excitment I'm feeling right now and has helped me to come to grips that this decision wasn't just the right one for me but the best decision of my life so far.
These blogs will get more exciting and will be funnier. There will be more (suitable to tell in a blog about charity work in China) tales to come, some wild(er) weeks and more. Keep your eyes peeled and glued to your screens true believers! This is Alex Kidd signing out of the UK and saying Ni Hao to China,
Excelessor! (Thanks for reading)
