Alex's Amazing Adventures
ok so its been nearly y3 weeks here and weve already done so much, last night we had a sleepover at the childrens home where celia and philpa are. we had devotion (a service) at 8pm and then devotion at 630 as per usual. then we took the school bus into manali for some much needed internet!
this week was hell it was a 6 day school week and due to the lack of directiuon proivded by the teachers we are starting to become a bit overwhelmed by the school. the kids area great but the teachers dont like us because we always end up teaching the whole school for 1/2 the day. the reason for this is because they are too lazy to teach. im not tryng to be critical but they walk out of class and let us do whatever we want. they seem to take a lot of free periods and turn up to class 10 mins late. and they have never told us what to do what subjects or antyhing to we teach maths english sose library computing art music drama games pretty much everything so yeah.
this week we went to an indian wedding whih was an AMAZING experience. we went straight after school to the last day of the wedding which is the celebration day. we were the center of attention all night even when standing with the bride the camera was on us. they seemed to loce me i think it was the blode haer but i held a lot of babies and everyone wanted to sit with me including the briodes mother and people. to eat dinner you eat in shifts so we were the 3rd shift were u sit on mats and get about 5 courses including sweet rice. then we danced, and danced for hours. we got taught sort of how to do the traditional dance of naggar and the men loved us. they were all either high or drunkj and kept pulling us to make us dannce and touch their heads. one man took a liking to me and started asklig quite interesting quewstions: how old are you, how long are ytou here for, what are you here for, do you want to stay longer, do you liike living in naggar. after several of these type questions we soon realied he was going to propose to me and i keopt ignoring him. except he asked me to sing for him and he stared at me all night, sat with me and danced with me. we called him mr 1995 cos in 1995 he would have been the cool guy. but yes all in all was a good night.
last weekend we went to the snow ling on the way to the rotang pass and went for a hike in the snow. we then went to a snowy area and went tubing and played int the snow. then the best part was riding a yak. it was such a weird experience. if you look on the blog i will put up photos next weekend. thye are sorta like riding a horse but a LOT different.
then we went to solang valley for a picnic lunch in the snow and had a yumy lunch. the man from the ski school then came to meet us and asked if we wanted to go skiing for free so of course me and emily anothert girl working in manali said yes. it was really cool and so we skiied for a while and then trudged home/
home life is ok the food is AMAZING we eat sooo much and its all so good. we also helped the other day top collecrt rocks in the freaking rain. we had to go into the fields and pick up rocks so that in summer when you cut the grass you dont cut rocks into the grass. we then helped collect hay for the cow all whilst raining.
