Day 1 - 19th January 2010 So Fernie?
I made it safely to Fernie, arriving at my house at around 7pm. So my house, it's called the OGS (Old Grocery Store) AKA the Party House! I met all the other 11 housemates, before more and more people started piling around..... well we are the party house and did have something to celebrate. So despite having a 9.5 hour flight to Calgary, and a further 3.5 hour transfer to Fernie, I still managed to stay up until 2am, to meet and party with all the other nonstoppers!
Day 2 - 20th January 2010
5 hours later, i had to get up for brekkie and talks about equipment. These would have been more helpful if i'd had them before i left for Fernie, but the equipment ive got seems to work on the Mountain. Today was all about getting a feel for the town and sorting out ski passes. All quite boring really, but its nice to know how close the house is to all the clubs! In the evening it was dinner with the instructors and groups. My instructor is Camille, tall blonde, 28 and single..... brilliant!!!!
There were a few sour faces from the 18 year olds at dinner as non stop had told the restaurant who all the 18 year olds, so that couldnt drink, lol!
Day 3 - 21st January 2010
Our first day on the slopes!!!!! Had to get an early bus to the mountain, to pick up my demo skis - K2 Apache Recons. Met up with the group and my instructor at 10am.
I found it tough to find my ski legs again, and it really showed 3 crashes later. During lunch at Lizard Creek, i asked to be moved down a group. Camille agreed that it was for the best, so i spent the afternoon with Genavieve. I fitted in perfectly! Unfortunately i had to leave the the slopes at 2, to try and persuade the rental shop to sell me the skis. They agreed, but ill keep the price of the skis to myself!
In the evening, the house went to dinner together and headed to a bar called The Brickhouse for a few drinks. It was fantastic, some of the nonstoppers got up onstage for a bit of a jam, lots of fun had all round.. Several pitchers later, at 2am, we decided to clear out, to try to sober up for the long day ahead of us.
Day 4 - Friday 22nd January
So once again, headed to the slopes early to do the deal and pick up my skis, yay!
