Day 11
We are now in our 7th country of the trip.
We breakfasted with Phil and Sandy, rang home to wish Mum a happy 80th birthday and then set off.
We had a brilliant 2 days in Riga and I'm sure that spending it with friends made it even more enjoyable.
The photo is of the view from our service station roadside cafe! This our second stop and in both places the young waitresses have spoken excellent English; I wonder when they began teaching English I presume it would only be after the end of communism.
We are obviously travelling through the grain belt of the country with huge expanses of rape and barley and wheat with just the occasional tethered cow to be seen. Colin had enjoyed looking at all of the combines and machinery that they are using.
It has made it us smile to be travelling along the main roads, similar to our motorways and we come across tractors cutting grass on the central reservation or a combine harvest lumbering along in the outside lane!
