After the best sleep in a while (apart from a vivid dream of being on a pier on my own in a thunderstorm, when I suddenly sat up straight and realised I was in a tent with 2 other people and nowhere near the ocean) we were packing up camp (pretty easy since we didn't bother to tidy uplast night) and I saw a SCORPION!!! And suddenly all four of us, Katie, Steven, Amandeine and I were crowding around it making the most of macro mode on our cameras.
Now I suppose I should recap... 2 or 3 days ago I was sitting Allan's lounge half anxious that I was gonna be stuck in Perth forever and half knowing that all would be fine, one side of my mind telling the other to shut up, calm down and relax. I didn't really travel much of WA because I waited around for Rottnest Island on Tuesday and it would cost time and money to go anywhere far afield. I also noticed that in bit reeeeeally a beach person and probably let Pas down by not seeing then all on his behalf. (Sorry dude)
Flashback - Thursday 21st
1:45pm. Email arrived from Katie via gumtree saying she had space for me and to get in touch ASAP.
1:50pm. Called Katie: "Hey it's Alex." "Hey. So you're pretty much ready to go now, eh?" "Um. Yeah!" "Where are you staying I'll pick you up at 2:30..."
2:30pm. Fond farewells to Allan, his flat and Perth.
2:40pm. On the road to Adelaide via The Big Pit and the Nullabor!
Since then we have camped 3 nights and witnessed too hot, too cold and just right. Just like Goldilocks. Katie's tent was put through its paces yesterday morning in some lovely British weather which bent the tent per us like a duvet. I felt at home that night.

• Loving being in the outdoors, even put my scout necker on for the first night to show off. The creepy crawlies we have seen about been cool/creepy/a teeny bit scary...
• Everything is so easy with these guys, for the first time this trip I have been the most awkward person because I dont like fish and salami...
• For some reason the Aussie midges find me tastier than the Asian ones...
Cooking has been good. I had developed the opposite digestion problem from the extreme change in diet and not drinking enough FLUIDS! Since then I have concentrated more on my fibre intake which fortunately is what I normally eat anyway, it is odd the ways that travelling can affect your lifestyle without even noticing. So far we have eaten:
Tortellini with chicken thigh
Cucumber and dip sandwiches.
Spag Bol with carrots
Carrots and fruit
Pomme frites avec tomato et onion. (I'm trying to make this sound better than it was because we had to finish off all fresh fruit and veg before the WA/SA border.)
There isn't much to say about the driving because mainly it is just straight roads with a lot of (lifeless) kangaroos and wombats. We get overly excited for each servo we come to to witness how much we will be charged for petrol each time. The max so far is $2.04. Which isn't that much impaired to he UK but is when you see how much petrol we are paying for. :(
