After enjoying luxury pools, cheap beer, lots of cocktails and way too much sun time to say goodbye to Langkawi and head over to Phuket, Thailand.
We got there around midday and got ourselves a Taxi, with probably the smallest boot in the world and with four backpacks was an interesting journey. On top of this it decided to rain very hard and as our driver had to go over steep hills with rivers coming down them we all got a bit nervous. However our driver was fearless and we made it to our luxury 5 star resort unscathed apart from all being very tired. That evening we had a great meal at the hotel then spent the rest of the night using the Sauna and Jacuzzi with the odd beer/cocktail to unwind.
The next day we had all decided to chill on the beach so we literally lounged around in the sun chatting until Jay and I decided we needed another adrenalin kick. So we got speedboat and crazy Thai driver who took us at Racqels request 'Really Fast' on a row of inflatable seats in circles around the bay which was great fun ! That evening we went our for a posh meal overlooking the bay.
Next we booked onto a daytrip to Ko Phi Phi and saw Maya beach (Beach where the Film 'the beach' was filmed) Saw some crazy monkeys and fed them then it was some snorkelling off the boat ( See Pics amazing).
Bangkok was the next stop and a bit hectic for us after the relaxation of Phuket, however we are all true travellers now and took it in our stride and got to our hotel after the driver asked 4 different tuk tuk drivers the way. The rest of the day we chilled out and had some food then headed to the markets in the evening for some bargaining .
Next morning the girls were up at the crack of dawn ready to tackle the sights so we headed to the Chinese Temple, Grand Palace then a Boat trip along the river around Bangkok. The boat trip was amazing and is definately a must when visiting Bangkok.
The next day Jay and Racquel were heading home and Lorna and I were a bit sad as it had been great having some travelling partners ( Thanks Guys) and we made a good team. Next stop was Surat Thani to have some extra time on some Thai islands on the east coast.
Ko Samui was our first stop and we litterally went to the beach every day for four days and chilled out in the evening. The last night in Ko Samui we decided to head via speedboat to Ko Phanagan for the 'Full Moon Party'. This has to be the craziest party we have ever been to with 8 - 10000 people on the beach, cheap alchohol (5 pounds alitre of smirnoff vodka with mixers), Loud music and fire shows we had a great time. We did not get back to our hotel til 5 am so we were feeling a bit worst for wear in the morning for our Travels to Ko Tao for diving course.
The Boat journey took 3 hours and luckily was not rough so we got there with little problems excited about starting our Padi course the following day.
We decided to use Crystal dive school which everyone we have met said are great at getting people, even us, through the course. First day was theory with a whole day in the class room learning about pressures, currents, diving procedure and skills. Next day was skills in the pool learning how to remove mask under the water, Setting up tanks and learning emergency ascents to mention a few. Then it was into the Sea for the next two days to implement the skills and see some amazing Sea life, some of the best diving we have done yet.
We passed our exams and now are Padi divers so we are hopefully going to do some cheap dives in Vietnam after next stop of Cambodia (blog to follow shortly)
Hope everyone is well and can't wait to see you all on 21st April love alex and lorna
