We Landed at Alice Springs and had a afternoon and a night to get ready for our Uluru Experience so first things we were told to get was Fly net and Cordial for the horrible water.
Next morning it was a 550 am pickup to meet our guide and group and commence our 5 hour drive to Uluru. The bus was awful as there was 21 people, bad aircon with 40 degrees at least outside however we tolerated the heat and met everyone on board the bus and found the group to be a good one even though our driver was a bit moody (I would be too if I had to do this job).
We got to base Camp and the 1st place the tour took us was the Olgas so we had walk through with our guide explaining how it was formed and showing us the difference between these and Uluru. Then it was back to camp for food, a swim and bed early in our Swags (Sleeping Bag with Matress inside) under the stars (amazing)
Alarm call was 4am for the Sunrise at Uluru and it was a rush to get everyone up and packed away before we headed out however we did it and the reward was worth the wait as you will see from our photo's. The next thing to do was walk around Uluru and I never realised how big it is (9km around) or the shape it is (L Shaped) very strange. We were not allowed to climb the Rock as it was too hot (42 degrees) and our guide thought it would be better not to do full 9km walk which we were both glad of as the flies and the heat were unbearable. Our second campsite was near Kings Canyon about 4 hours so rest of the day we spent travelling and arrived late afternoon. We all decided to get an early night again to avoid the heat the following day at Kings Canyon.
Again a 4am start so that we could see the Sunrise at Kings Canyon, this walk was great and much cooler as we had got there early again and we were glad as the heat soared in afternoon to 46 degrees. It was then back to Alice Springs to some farewell drinks with our group and a proper bed.
We then got on another plane to head to Perth for some relaxation and cooler temperatures.
Missing you all love alex and lorna
