Day 31 I finally got to do the tour of the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) and the Australian Sports Museum as the weather decided to clear up for a few hours. The tour guide Peter provided us with some intriguing historical facts about the ground which we were allowed to walk on. It's the largest cricket ground in the World, and is something like the 5th largest stadium in the world with a full capacity of 100,000 spectators, Peter took us through the whole building including the press areas, tv studios, players changing rooms, practice areas/gyms/baths, and told us about the history behind the cricket ground which has been around since 1867 but the stadium has been used for many situations including housing American soldiers during the WW2. After the tour we were allowed to have a wander around the Australian Sports Museum which houses all the trophies/medals/memorabilia from every sport their athletes/sports people have competed in and succeeded in. They also showcased a very detailed section all about cricket which portrays all of the Australian Cricket Team's success along with other nation's success and memorabilia including Pakistan, India, West Indies, England, New Zealand etc. Again a great day spent out in Melbourne and this afternoon I have spent sorting out this blog as Melbourne's heavens opened up and made me feel like I was back in Wales even though it was still warm!
