Hello all and welcome to my travel blog for the USA Deep South tour of 2011.
After traveling for what seems like three days in relative comfort on BA 'world traveler plus' class. The extra leg room, on demand media and good food made for a good travel experience. I would recommend this to travelers who would like to spend that bit more for a more comfortable trip.
As anyone who has traveled to the USA before, they will know of The pleasure of US Border Control. Going through took the usual time (ages) but without any problems. Houston Airpot is easy to get around and if you are hiring a car, there is one bus that takes you to a hub where all the companies are located.
This time, we opted for the luxury car. Through some persuasion, we managed to go away with a Chevrolet Camaro, pure American muscle. What a car! Defiantly makes for an all American trip in one of the most popular muscle cars of all time. To make life easier, most car hire companies offer a sat-nav hire option to customers. This can be pricy, but makes the difference in a new environment. For three weeks it comes in around $200.
The Hilton Houston North is a modern hotel close the airport in is very easy to
find. Perfect for a starting your road trip. It is not too far from downtown Houston with plenty for food and gas outlets close by. The rooms are extremely comfortable with modern decoration and luxury furniture and bedding.
If it is your first time to Houston, you may not be aware of the high temperatures around 100f and humidity at over 90%. If you can put up with that then you will love walking about, if not then most places have air conditioning.
I will keep updating the blog as often as I can throughout the trip as we cross the deep south, but for now I will leave you with that.
