Ah so I'm sick again... went to patan hospital this morning and spoke to my Australian mate Dr Bruce. he was incredibly helpful in giving me these yummy drugs called medtronidazole that apparently will make me feel worse but will kill anything that's trying to invade.
Anyway, on a brighter note, I went to bhaktapur on Sunday, that was pretty awesome :) Its so cool, it's like the best preserved medieval city in Nepal, which means that its full of huge temples and things and has lots of narrow streets with lots of people asking to be your tour guide. :) lots of people tried to sell me kukhuris (Gurkha knife) but I didn't have any money on me... which they either didn't believe or didn't understand because they kept giving me cheaper and cheaper prices on them... me: " I only have enough for the bus fare home" seller: "1800" Me: "no I really don't have any money" seller "1600, good price" Me:"I don't doubt its a good price I really don't have any money" Seller: "1000... wait come back!!!" (as I run off).
The temples where pretty cool, one of them is supposed to be the tallest temple in Nepal, that was quite impressive, and all the other architecture was amazing, but I wanted to see monkeys in the temples and I didnt :( I WANT TO SEE MONKEYS.
One of the more exciting parts of the trip was the transport, as we didnt actually know how to get there but we where determined to catch a bus, so we took a local bus to Lagankhel and started asking the drivers if theirs was the bus that went to Bhaktapur, after about 10 minutes of running after buses only to find they where going the wrong way, we got on a bus that we hoped was the right one. now the lonely planet says 20 rupees for the trip, so when the bus boy said: 200 rupees, we just handed him 20 and ignored him for the rest of the journey. He was too busy hanging out of the doorway as we bombed it down the highway. seriously I swear the bus boys here just don't have fear...
anyway that's all good. we had rain recently so we had a couple of days with a little extra power but now its back to having power exactly when we dont want it... but oh well.
oh and I'm borrowing a heater cus my room is always cold, as its on the ground floor so never gets any sun through the windows. It makes the evening a bit less bleak and hopefully will save me a couple of cafe bills because theres less reason to go out now.
If anyone's been to Kathmandu before and they know of some cool things to do locally in one day then let me know so I have more things to do with my weekend.
love you all

Gideon Hey me mate!Having fun ha..!Its nice to hear you are making good of your time out there, but the trick to get to know your way around a place is just to adventure,so long as you can get your way back in good time (during the day, don't try it at nite),and by asking around(the natives). So you are on the right track,so continue being confident and brave am sure you'll enjoy your time out there.Take care of yourself,we are praying for you.
