I had an interesting greeting when I arived in NZ...yes no one to meet me at the airport...I thought I'd do the right thing as you do when going on a fishing trip....I just stood around and looked like a stunned mullet as you do...well for an hour until the penny dropped...yep no one's comming. So I thought I'll try the public phone system but it didnt like my credit card (I hope!) but could not make a call to get some one to pick me up. While waiting for an hour at the airport this man in a freen outfit...looking like a leprcorn had a large sign for Green Taxis...he circumnavigated me a couple of times with the sign until I told him I diddnt need a cab. He wasnt my friend any more...I then decided to try the local public transport and bus my way to Upper Hutt. And to y delight it had Wifi...checked emails tried some browsing but could not send emails or communicate. At least I got to know what everyone else as doing but I could send a plea for help unless it was an SOS ...well although I had international roaming swithched off by my employer my iPhone was telling me I could send an SOS...I nearly did at one stage but chose not too. n arrival to Upper Hutt I decided to try the public phone to see if I could conjur up a lift but to my surprise (NOT) the public phone at the bus terminal didnt like my Visa card either. So I put on my back pack and picked up my duffle bag and my carrybag with laptop and camera and made my way to the local supermarket and bought a New Zealand 2 Degrees Sim Card and put it in my Nokia that I brought along also as a fall back...yes you guessed it...phone says ,NO!' Simm not compatible...b*****!..I keep my calm and picked up my kit and walked to my destination some 2 km. No one home...maybe my lift had forgoton I was coming this day...Im locked out...aha I find a key...the house is armed with alarms everywhere and do you think I trusted my memory...yes I new the code but was not confident enough to enter and get the code wrong and have a visit by police and security. I find myself a cozy corner under shelter with a padded dogs bed and flip it over and use my duffle bag as a pillow....wake up after a nana nap and my mind starts to wander...maybe hes not comming home tonight...take another nap...phew hes home....its now 8.30 pm....hes home. Guess what...I had the correct password in my mind. Oh well at least he has bought a Wifi hub for me to connect to his modem and I can get back to blogging....nup...computer says no and in the mean time it corrupted his connection so we had no internet...how does one survive these days without the Net?...Thank goodness for Windows recovery options....rolled the computer back 2 days and reconnected...its 1.30am...too late to blog now.
