I spent 2 nights in a house in the village of Kasan which is outside of Delhi and a taste of Indian village life. Despite being warned about the stares, it was strannge to be the object of so much staring at attention especially when I went to leave the house to be greated by a line of children just looking at me!
Walking through the village I saw people about their daily business, cows, goats and pigs roaming the streets and eating the trash. So much rubbish everywhere, in disbelief I saw a banana skin fly to the ground from the first floor of a house, the rubbish bins I now know are the street!
I then headed to Delhi and oh my goodness, what a contrast to Kasan... the standard of the streets is not much better but the chaos is on a scale I could not have imgined.
My time in Delhi centred on trying to get to the train station to get a ticket out to Jodhpur which was exhausting and unsuccessful. Persistent lies, being shouted at, sent on a number of goose chases and not being allowed to even get into the train station led to some despair and finally deciding I couldn't handle a third day at the train station I booked a flight out!
Aside from trying to sort the train I did meet some lovely people and enjoyed the Red Fort, spice markets, H tomb and saw areas such as Delhi Gate from the car.
