Less than a week before I return to the maple leaf or fleur de lis and I think back to everything I've experienced, what and how I felt and how I've grown.

Though I don't think I'll write details here, the following are topics that crossed my mind:

- Independence
- Being a man
- Love and relationships
- The future
- My preferences and limits at my age
- Confidence building
- A vacation or a life journey
- Family and friends.

That last one is tough. I've intentionally done my best to not think about those people, not because I do not care but simply because it hurts because I miss them. Even jumping from city to city, I love what I left behind but I've had to leave it behind so that I could move forward.

My thoughts on the Canadian backpacker.

He/she is proud to travel as a Canadian and could be the only traveller to sport the Canadian flag from a tiny pin to a massive flag.

The Canadian backpacker will somehow always seek out and find fellow Canadians.

The Canadian backpacker is proud but humble, resilient and aware.
