Bus from HCMC to nha trang indeed was long. Got a normal bus for 4 hours then we had lunch and swapped to a sleeper bus..had to take our shoes off and put them into plastic bags when we got on. We we're on the upper level..mart struggled so much to fit into the little body shaped hole for your legs.
Malaria tablets we're knocking me about a little so I felt like death which didn't help. Luckily for us the hotel was on the other side of the road to where the bus dropped us off. I couldn't do much that night other than stay in bed as I wasn't feeling we'll. mart went out to get some good to bring back when some Canadian blokes shouted "sick beard bro come have a beer". So naturally he did.. It's official the beard is back.
Next day feeling slightly better we headed off to the beach! Lovely beach and quite a warm day but with a good breeze. Completely forgetting the tablets also make you more sensitive to uv rays we both burnt. Everywhere!
Few beers on the beach from the sellers..mart nearly started a riot between two of them as the one wanted his business to herself.
Had some drinks in a bar..gave the woman 100,000 dong and she gave us 440,000 back in change. Mart was convinced I'd given him a 500,000 note until we got back and I proved him wrong!
Considering I knew I was right thought I'd do something good with the money..I've read a lot (as I do) about these seeing hand companies who give masseuse jobs to blind people. I'd heard a lot of good things so thought I'd give a foot massage a go..couldn't cope with a back one as we've both got back and neck ache from the tablets.
Funniest experience ever..mart sat opposite drinking (nothing changes there). I was led through the building which reminded me of a scene in taken then taken to a room with very dodgey music on and waited for the blind man to come in. Was a very good massage although a little painful at times..he was actually asking me to turn over to do the back of my legs..but he kept telling me to stand up. Obvious confusion. Anyway he spent about an hour massaging my legs and feet and then decided to try and massage my upper back but it kind of felt like he was trying to strangle me..nice man however.
Today was a little cloudy and it's marts turn to feel like death (I've told him it passes in a few days) so we've just been sat in the cool researching halong bay and sapa. Going for a walk to the beach as the suns come back out waiting until 7pm for our sleeper bus to hoi an! Outrageous how long it takes. 11 hours to do 500km! Would do that in 5 hours in Australia.
Have no where booked for hoi an..winging it. There's several different areas to chose from. Think we're doing one night riverside then 2 nights old town before the epic.. And I mean extremely long journey to Hanoi!
