Day Two. Wow that was one HELL of a day. Started with amazing views of the Eastern ice fields on the rim of the crater. We ended the day after 8 hours at **** wa Camp, Mawenzi Tarn at 11,800ft. The altitude kicked in today, but the views over Kenya were awesome. I wish you all could have seen it. The team are working so well together it is really exciting to see everyone being just so together. They all so deserve to get to the top. Jo saw a mountain rat, Pete produced the hat of the mountain. Brownie was tangoed by a coat , Kathleen was absolutely awesome with her boots and kit only arriving at Kili tonight. Andrew is a philosopher and meditation expert extraordinaire and cuddles has spend all day wanting to go to the dunny without success, he is just off with his head torch to try again. Well all you cricket fans, the swing ball doesn't seem to swing at altitude. Godwins favorite phrases are.. Only two hours to go.. And just over the next ridge.. Both a slight stretch.. There is lots of laughter and a clear understanding that it's going to be more than hard. If you don't climb with the right attitude and values .. You won't make it.. Tomorrow will be another challenge .. X
UPDATE. It's 0145 on day 3 and cuddles and my tent has sprung a leak. Ian woke up to wet feet and an inch of water at out feet. We sorted it out with some lava rocks to hold the corner of tent away from inside bit which seemscto have sorted it out. Then it was pee break and ian skipping across the mountain in his multiple color zebra themals was a sit to behold. Sky is clear. Amazing view of stars and planets with the planes of Kenya below and the peaks above . See tomorrow x Sent from Fethys iPhone
