Day 4
So we're heading to Ayutthaya today, its about 90 minutes north of Bangkok. We had a small lie in till 9:30 and went straight out for breakfast, whilst munching some strange old english bloke started hoovering around the tables and talking to some Austrailians, then an old (just as strange) thai women came by, got down onto her knees and started shouting something in thai..... wierd. At first we thought they were together but he just asked the staring passers bys if anyone could translate.... THEN she hopped up and sucked hes hairy man boob!!! IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. way to early for this.
Anyway after a giggle we researched some hotels for Ayutthaya and checked out of the hotel. Went for a very early lunch and grabbed a taxi to the train station. WOOOO its different! everyone is laying on the floor waiting for the trains, theres cartoons on the big screen and the tracks are the same level as the platform, meaning a high step up onto the train ( not very good for small people).
Like the buses the trains pretty old fashioned and soooo hot! the windows are wooden slash ones and are all pulled down. Finally got here, grabbed a tuk tuk to the guest house when we got there he tried to sell us a tuk tuk tour for the next day, but we we're interested he got dead grumpy and stamped hes feet, the CHILD! we both just lolled. The guest house is nice, really chilled out and relaxed astmosphere. we asked for a twin room with fan but when we put our bags in the boiling room we ran back downstairs and upgraded slightly to one with air con :) had a much needed cold shower, hung around and cooled off for an hour before venturing out to see abit of Aytthaya. Ever heard the phrase "hung like a donkey"? well Aimee pointed out a dog with the saggiest ball bag ever, poor thing, had them hitting his knees. Hanna was flashed by a young boy, we couldnt take anymore drama so we settled with an ice-cream and walked around for miles and miles. Had food in the night market, Hanna tried a soybean cake which came in a soup. MINGING! We ventured into an internet cafe so Aimee could skype her dad and ended the night with a beer.
Trotted home to sleep in our duvetless bed.
Day 5
Another lie in :) grabbed breakfast at the guesthouse and headed out to some old ruins (Wat Ratchaburana) some king built this massive temple thousands of years ago for his dads ashes. It was red hot so we went back to the guesthouse and both rented bicycles for 50 baht (1 quid) and cycled to pretty much all the temples in the area. It was a little bit daunting at first beacause all the cars and mopeds, buses and lorrys get a kick out of cutting each other up!! But we survived :)
We'll try and upload photos in Chaing mai because these computers dont have card readers, but the temples were awesome! Got back to the guesthouse late afternoon and grabbed another tuk tuk to the train station, purchased Chaing mai tickets 766 baht on a sleeper train (this is going to be different) when we got back we packed our bags and headed out for tea. Hanna had a spicy yellow curry with prawns and Aimee had a funny looking soup thing that tasted like celery, the noodles were see through! lived up to the name "glass noodle" both shared some vegetables and sticky rice. Mooched over to the supermarket and both tried some thai chocolate. Had a blue slush drink at the bar next to the guesthouse but didnt stay too long because one of the stray dogs hanging around tried to attack us :( ran back to the guesthouse and played a new and improved version of snap. Actually its still snap just called shlong.
Day 6
Heading to Chaing mai tonight, its a 10 hour journey so we're just researching some hotels atm. We checked out of the guesthouse so we're just killing time. Got a boat trip booked for this afternoon though :)
See you soon folks x
